What Is Cosmetic Dentistry?

The term cosmetic dentistry refers to any procedure which is carried out to enhance the appearance of the teeth and gums, but is not medically required.

There are many types of cosmetic dentistry offered to help improve the confidence individuals have in the appearance of their smile. Cosmetic dentistry treatments include teeth whitening, composite bonding, teeth straightening and veneers. Whilst some of these treatments may have a wide range of benefits to the patient, including making the teeth easier to clean and helping to maintain a healthy mouth and jaw structure, when used for cosmetic reasons, they aren’t a necessity.

What’s the Process?

As with any dental treatment, you will have a consultation with your dentist, prior to having any treatment carried out. Within your consultation, your dentist will discuss all available solutions that will help you achieve your desired smile.

You will be given timeframes for treatment as well as costings, helping you to make a well thought out decision.

Smile Statistics

Research undertaken by the Cosmetic Surgery Solicitors found that 40% of the British public are unhappy with their teeth and 48% are considering undergoing cosmetic dentistry.

Andrew McDougall a Global Beauty & Personal Care Analyst states that over the next two years, the dental and beauty industries will continue to align with each other. He believes the popularity of teeth whitening will continue to grow, alongside oral care devices and apps.
